Melissa and John planned an intimate wedding ceremony with around 25 guests at the Spotswood Lodge at The Market at Grelen for the middle of October. Planning a post-government shut down wedding is not the easiest of feats, but these two did it and it was the loveliest of days! They planned their wedding day with the most important people in their life as a priority. And I have to say, I am so very fond of how they prioritized and planned everything.
It has been so sweet getting to know Melissa and John throughout this time. They are a fun and a loving couple who value their family and friends. So their wedding day was a beautiful reflection of this. They also had one of my all time favorite engagement sessions at one of my all time favorite locations, Waterperry Farms and Gardens.
Their wedding day began with photographing their sweet details and moving right into their first look on the grounds of Spotswood Lodge in front of one of the willow trees. After their first look, Melissa also pinned on John’s boutonniere for him!
We then photographed individual portraits.
The views at the Spotswood Lodge were perfect for romantic couples’ portraits as well.
We also made our way over (thanks to Kristen Simler!) to the Market at Grelen for more romantic couples’ portraits.
The sun came out and the views were so incredible!
Upon return to the lodge, we photographed some fun and lovely group portraits and then the ceremony began!
It was the perfect time of day to say “I do” as well.
After the ceremony, we took some golden hour photos as the sun began to set.
The reception space was also such a special intimate space outdoors with blue and white china, collected by Melissa and John over the last year and complete with special details for their guests.
Melissa and John began the reception with their first dance, dances with their parents and a welcome speech.
And of course, cutting their cake before they enjoyed the rest of the evening amongst their closest people!
What a lovely intimate wedding day it was. Congratulations Melissa and John! It has been an honor to serve you!
