Engagements

It’s been such a tough year for couples planning their wedding days. Wint and Kaye scheduled and rescheduled their engagement session with me as the parks department in D.C. continually had to deny photography permits. We eventually came so close to their wedding date that we decided to schedule it elsewhere. But what better alternative for an engagement session than at the Great Marsh Estate?! Wint and Kaye have continued to be positive despite the circumstances. So it was such a joy to finally see them again and document their love.

Great Marsh Estate

I’m so pleased. to share the images from our evening at Great Marsh Estate and I’m even more excited to share more from their love and proposal story. From Kaye’s perspective, he shares, “It was time to propose to the love of my life. It was February 24th, 2019 and it was one of the most stressful days of my life. Gosh, I cannot believe I did it and everything was so perfect and amazing.

Great Marsh Estate

I proposed my Winty on that day. I planned it with help of our friends. I found a place in Georgetown since she always loves the water and the ocean. It was a cold and windy day and our friends and I managed to design everything with red roses and balloons. Wow, it was just amazing! I kept wishing she would love it too and of course I was hoping to hear YES from her.

That day I called her, she was with my cousin who was also aware of the plan. I came up with an idea to get her to Georgetown so I could propose her. Finally, when they arrived to Georgetown I had to walk to them since Wint nor my cousin did not know how to parallel park. Due to the stress I couldn’t even hold myself straight. I even forgot to hug her.

We were walking down the hill, I could see the balloons and people who were waiting for that amazing moment, so I had to pick another path so she won’t be able to see those balloons. We walked through the pathway, which was designed with roses. She saw her close friends and the marry me sign. She found out what was going on after all. I started talking about our past, present, and future then I asked her ‘Wint war Aung will you marry me?’

Then she said ‘of course, my love!’ YES, that was a release to me! The funny thing is, people were still standing and not even clapping. I knew they didn’t hear her because she was crying already and couldn’t speak any louder. So, I announced, ‘SHE SAID YES.’ Soon, I will be marrying the love of my life and she will be mine forever!”

From Wint’s perspective, she shares, “I honestly didn’t think I was going to have a surprise proposal like in movie or pictures. But I knew he was coming with his parents in a couple weeks to talk to my parents and ask for my hand in marriage.

Great Marsh Estate

That’s our culture thing…the guy has to come with his parents and meet with girl’s parents at her house. We only meet on Sunday. Every Sunday is our day!!!!! That’s our tradition because we are both busy with work and I like to give time to my besties too. One week, he said he won’t be able to see me the following Sunday because his mom asked to go DC with him and she couldn’t drive around DC. So I said, ‘Yeah thats fine. Please go and take care of her.’

Great Marsh Estate

After a couple days, his cousin (who’s also my close friend) asked me if I had anything to do on that day and if we can go shopping. I said absolutely because i loveeeee shopping !!!! She said, ‘OK. I will pick you up and be ready!!!!’ On the day we were hanging out at the mall, all of sudden Kaye called me and said his car got towed and ask me if I could pick him up in DC. I said, ‘I am not driving today; your cousin is the one who’s driving.’

Great Marsh Estate

I completely had no clue what they were planning. They were tricking me and were pretending to be fighting over the phone. His cousin said we aren’t coming to DC and for him to get an uber instead. And I felt bad because I wished I was the one who was driving so I could go and pick him up. And I’m even scared to drive around DC too! But we decided to go and pick him up.

Great Marsh Estate

When I saw him, he looked so mad and didn’t even give me a hug. I was like wowwwwww…and that put me a bad mood too. LOL. I didn’t know he was so nervous to the point he couldn’t even talk to me. He didn’t even talk to me and keep walking and we were just following him From far away, I was starting to see balloons were flying in the air, and I kind of got the idea and got so nervous all of sudden. My hands were frozen and in my head I thought, ‘Omggggg please don’t tell me you are proposing me here.’ I used to tell him a longgggg time ago to please do private thing (just us) in the future if you ever plan to do something. I don’t think he remembers it all. LOL. As I got closer to the location, I saw a few of my close friends standing there and saw how much they put in effort for me (and in the cold)…it just melted my heart. And I was in a shock to see about 200 people were waiting for me to arrive for two hours…it was in the month of February!”
