Great Marsh Estate Engagement Session | Lieb Photographic | Vanessa and Mike

It was so much fun to finally meet Vanessa and Mike in person for their incredible Great Marsh Estate engagement session! We had to really work at getting a good weather day but WOW was it worth it. The leaves were still there in spots and the colors of the golden hour sun could not be beat!
Vanessa and Mike are such a joyful and fun couple. I had the best time documenting this part of their love story!
So what is their love story? I’ll let Vanessa tell…
“We both went to the same high school but didn’t actually know each other. I cheered with his younger sister and knew he was a cute older brother of hers, but that was the extent of it. Fast forward to January of 2020, we met up for the first time after matching on Tinder and figuring out we had so many similarities.
We went on our first date to Zandra’s in Old Town Manassas. I was waiting on a bench to meet him and as I stood up to give him a hug, my purse got stuck in the bench! We spent the first 5 minutes of our date trying to get my purse unstuck. We still laugh about it all the time! We fell for each other so quickly.
My mom was diagnosed with a terminal cancer about 2 years before I met Mike and we spent a lot of the first few months of our relationship in and out of hospitals and caring for her. About 5 months into our relationship, Mike’s mother unexpectedly passed away due to a brain aneurysm. Just two weeks later, my mother lost her battle to cancer. At 24 and 25 years old, we bonded over something that most young couples don’t experience. We learned how to get through some of the toughest moments of life together.
This past summer, Mike and I spent much of our free time fishing. It’s always been one of my favorite hobbies. I particularly love this one private pond in Manassas. It’s always been my happy place to go to ever since I was little. On August 9th , 2021, he surprised me with both of our fathers and his family there and got down on one knee! It was truly the most magical day. I can’t wait to spend forever with him!
