The inspiration for this styled anniversary session at the Great Marsh Estate comes from the English Gardens that so often accompanied Georgian style estates in the late 1700s. In replicating the color palette and style of the era, we also sought to pull it into the 21st century by blending film and digital formats as well as nostalgia and modern romance.
Our couple is Teresa and Mark Del Rosso, who celebrated their five year wedding anniversary with this special session. It was held at the stunning Great Marsh Estate, a Georgian style mansion and luxury wedding venue about an hour’s drive from the Nation’s Capital. Mark is the CEO of Genesis Motor North America, Hyundai Motor America. And Teresa is the owner and a stylist with DC Elite Image. So these two are on the go quite a bit! But taking the time to plan a five year anniversary session was a priority for this couple who have cultivated a beautiful marriage.
The serene grounds and symmetrical architectural design of Great Marsh lends itself to the perfect backdrop for this elegant session with Mark and Teresa. Teresa wore a two piece wedding gown from Modern Trousseau with just enough layers to give her the appearance of floating on air as she gracefully took to the grounds at Great Marsh Estate. Her elegant style with a hint of whimsy was complimented by the flowing bouquet created by Alyssa of The Posey Detail.
Jennifer of May June Events envisioned this gorgeous garden palette. It consists of a range of dusty mauve hues with pops of deep burgundy and a pale gray-blue paired with a creamy ivory. The palette repeats itself in the details of the table setting. It was placed along the long path at Great Marsh Estate, framed by the trees lining each side. Megan of Haute Cakes Pastry Shop also designed a lovely towering cake with a gilded deckled edge to mirror that of the invitation suite.
This Peach and Paperie invitation suite is full of every detail a guest needs to set the tone for such a special day. The sketch of Great Marsh sets it apart to pique the interest of would-be guests. The hand-crafted calligraphy would let each one know how loved they are, receiving such a personalized treasure. The images were also photographed with both the creamy Portra 400 film as well as digital imagery to reflect the timeless elegance of every detail.
We began the evening with Teresa moving from the Trousseau LTD lingerie into the wedding gown. Her flawless hair and make up showcase a woman confident in love and ready to spend time with her husband. From the walk to meet her groom to the strolls around the manor and grounds, Teresa and Mark embody the beauty of a couple committed and in love.
And it was evident to everyone that Teresa and Mark are head over heels. So I asked them the following questions about their marriage…
How has your marriage grown in the last five years?
“We have been through some amazing highs but also extremely challenging times, which has made us both evolve and grow individually and as a couple. Marriage is not a fairy tale, it’s a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Finding that balance between work, kids and couple time is an everyday challenge, but we are committed to making it all work because we love each other.”
Teresa, what things do you appreciate about Mark?
“He is a devoted father. He’s extremely loyal and incredibly hardworking. He’s a passionate person (as am I) and that’s really important to me.”
Mark, what things do you appreciate about Teresa?
“Teresa has an inner beauty. She’s fiercely loyal, passionate and committed to our relationship.”
What is your ideal date night?
“A romantic and fun dinner with ambiance, good food, drinks and music!”
How do you keep your marriage thriving?
“It’s work everyday. Trying new things and adventures together, being open minded to each other’s interests and hobbies, and most importantly making time for each other.”
