Jordan and Jackson planned their Shadow Creek Wedding all while still at college. They knew they had a large guest list so they needed a venue with wide open spaces and a reception space that could comfortably fit a nice crowd. Shadow Creek fit the bill and these high school sweethearts were able to celebrate over their Spring Break comfortably and joyfully with family and friends.
I’ve been anticipating this day for so long! When Jessica of Jessica Ashley Events first told me about Jordan and Jackson and their Shadow Creek wedding, I knew they would be the perfect fit. The first time I met them in person was at their engagement session, also in Loudon County. It was also the first time the two had seen Shadow Creek, since they had to do their wedding planning from afar. They both agreed the venue had the space they needed to host their guests and the atmosphere they wanted to enjoy the time together.
Jordan and Jackson are not only high school sweethearts, but have known each other since the fifth grade. These two Hokies also made the decision to put their faith in God first while in college. They both began to follow Jesus together and began to shape their relationship and future with eyes up! Definitely read about their incredible love story on their engagement session post.
It was just perfect that my first wedding of the season was Jordan and Jackson’s Big Day. What a wonderful way to start of the wedding year! While I photographed details, Jordan and Jackson began their day in separate off site locations before coming to Shadow Creek for their final touches.
Every last detail was just lovely! The neutral colors and whites left room for the unpredictable weather that comes with planning a March wedding. And how beautiful they were! Curious Fox Press created the most timeless wedding invitation suite. And Lark Floral’s floral bridesmaid hoops were a unique alternative to a traditional bridesmaid bouquet.
Not only did I photograph Jordan and Jackson’s vow books, but also a sampling of the stacks of these love letters. Jackson has written Jordan a love letter every month!
They had also selected the option of macaroons for favors for each guest. (Can you go wrong with that??!). And I was a huge fan of Jordan’s lovely bouquet filled with fresh white and neutral blooms and lush greens!
While photographing the details, Jackson donned his tie and coat and spent some time with his groomsmen. Meanwhile, Jordan and her ladies finished preparing for the day as well.
Jordan added the final touches…shoes, jewelry and her bouquet before heading outside for bridal portraits.
It was fairly windy outside but the motion of the wind gave Jordan’s hair a wispy and romantic look so we couldn’t complain too much! Her Rosalin’s Bridal wedding gown was simply stunning and Jordan was an excited and lovely bride!
Her lovely ladies also joined us for some portraits together. All 13 bridesmaids were gracious, excited and so happy to see Jordan and Jackson tie the knot!
Jordan also read a letter from Jackson…his monthly love letter reserved especially for today.
Meanwhile, Jackson prepared for his day with classic black and white attire from Jos A. Bank.
He and his men hid safely away from Jordan until it was time for Jackson to see Jordan for the first time that day.
Soon it was time for their first look! Jordan snuck up behind Jackson and wrapped her arms around him. Once he turned and saw her, his smile grew a mile wide!
After a few minutes we photographed portraits of these two together. They were truly over-the-moon to see each other on their wedding day!
While it was windy, it was also sunny and it wasn’t freezing! I’d say that’s a win for an early Marsh wedding day! And how in love are Jordan and Jackson?!!!
After some spinning, dancing and gracing the grounds of Shadow Creek, Jordan and Jackson also took a whole group of portraits with their immediate families.
Then they had a first look with Jordan’s fur baby, Bruno!
And we recreated some images of Jordan and her father from her childhood…
The entire bridal party joined them for some more images together!
Jessica and her team helped get Jordan and Jackson safely tucked away at Shadow Creek while their guests arrive. Soon it was almost time for the ceremony.
The site was beautifully decorated with lush florals and of course, a cross in the center, representing of the center of their relationship.
Jackson waited eagerly for Jordan to walk down the aisle and could barely contain his emotions!
He smiled, cried and held back even more tears as his bride joined him.
When it was time to say his vows, Jackson, had prepared exactly what he wanted to share with Jordan. He began with telling her that she is his best friend. Jackson recounted how they have known each other since fifth grade and yet this is still just the beginning. “The beginning of our new life together as a family, and I cannot wait for all the beginnings God has planned for us.”
“James 1:17 says that every good and perfect gift comes from above. Jordan, you have been such an incredible blessing in my life. How humbling that God would give a man like me such a good and perfect bride.” Jackson also promised to love Jordan sacrificially and keep God as the cornerstone of their marriage. He promised to “grow old loving you, and to never let loving you grow old.” Jackson recounted nine more pledges to her and ended with, “Jordan, I will love you and be faithful too you alone until God calls us home. I love you.”
Jordan echoed Jackson’s words in her own vows to him. “Jackson, I was 17 when I wrote my first wedding vows to you. Somehow back then I knew that the quiet cellist who barely said a single word to me when we met in fifth grade, would someday be my husband. Jackson, you are the greatest man I’ve ever known.”
Jordan spoke of his great love and servant heart and how his love is a reflection of the way Jesus loves her. Later saying, “Since we made the decision to follow Jesus, God has absolutely transformed us. He has led us over daunting mountains and through blissful pastures, growing us closer and closer to Him with each day. I know that is a snippet of what life is going to look like: joy and trails, growth and sanctification. And Jackson, I promise to be your helper and companion through it all.”
“I promise to be your lifelong best friends and to never stop uncontrollably laughing with you (especially in the Cook Out Drive-Thru).” Jordan promised to further the Kingdom of God with Jackson as well as give her heart to him every day. She ended her vows with, “Finally, I promise to keep Jesus at the center of my life so I can love you in the fullest and truest way possible. I love you with all my heart, and I cannot wait to begin our journey through life as one.”
After they shared in communion together and exchanged rings, it was officially announced that Jordan and Jackson were husband and wife! They joyfully walked back down the aisle and celebrated with some golden hour time together.
They posed with their family for some large extended group family portraits. Then it began to get chilly as the evening settled upon us so they also snuggled up for some portraits before preparing for their reception.
The Shadow Creek reception space was also beautifully decorated with greenery, hanging hoops and gorgeous floral centerpieces.
There was even a specialty drink named after Bruno! And their head table was accented with many lovely blooms as well. The dinner and dessert tables were filled with culinary delights and the cake was designed to coordinate thanks to Cakes by Miriam.
Jordan and Jackson’s entrance was filled with excitement, including a surprise visit by the VT Hokie bird, himself and a romantic first dance!
The reception was full of friends, family and fun. The laughter and the joy and the dancing continued until the sparkler exit. From the toasts to the father/daughter and mother/son dances….the whole evening was spectacular!
One special highlight of the evening was Jordan’s a cappella group from Virginia Tech surprising them with a song during the evening!
The whole day was unforgettable and I can’t imagine a better was to start the wedding season!
Thank you Jordan and Jackson for allowing me the honor of photographing your wedding day. It has been such a joy to serve you!
