It goes without saying that 2020 has been filled with some hearty challenges for couples planning a wedding. For Evelyn and Stefano, they booked with me two years ago with a passion of a particular date…10/10/2020. I think i must have had more inquiries for that date than any other ever! So I’m beyond thankful that these two booked with me because it was the perfect fit! In light of all the challenges and family VIPs from abroad who couldn’t come, they decided to move their Morais Vineyards wedding until next year. In lieu of a large affair this year, they planned their Pink Dogwood wedding on their original date and can still say they were wed on 10/10/2020!
Their florist opened The Pink Dogwood this year, with it’s sprawling lush green space, beautiful tall boxwoods and even the train track that runs behind the property. That may sound a bit odd, but it is beautifully manicured around the track and it actually adds this lovely calming horizon line to the images. The venue was the perfect place for a 2020 intimate micro wedding.
Evelyn and Stefano already had two engagement sessions with me, one at their alma mater, UVA and one at their Big Day venue, Morais Vineyards. So I’ve gotten to know them a bit and can honestly say, I was so bummed for them having to change their date! But their contagious smiles and incredibly positive attitude carried over from their engagement sessions to their wedding day at The Pink Dogwood.
Evelyn was a lovely bride and Stefano was equally dapper! They even shared a first look behind the boxwoods. Not long after, they also received some cheering from their bridal party!
We photographed so many romantic portraits at The Pink Dogwood. The weather was perfect and Evelyn and Stefano were full of joy!
And it doesn’t hurt that your florist owns the venue! That bouquet was stunning!
That floral draped arbor was so lovely and was the perfect blend of summer into Fall.
The ceremony was beautiful and included personal vows to one another. There was also a gold coin tradition and a surprise train that rolled through behind us!
Soon, Stefano kissed his lovely bride and the two triumphantly made their way back down the aisle.
After some family and group portraits, we also enjoyed some bridal party portraits!
What a supportive bridal party! There was no shortage of excitement there!
We then took advantage of the evening light for some more couples’ portraits.
And I loved Evelyn’s new denim jacket!
And those boxwoods…are we even still in Virginia????
Their outdoor tables were so welcoming and the added blue seat covers perfectly matched Evelyn’s new denim jacket.
The reception began with their first dance outside and it was so romantic!
They had a lovely pairing of cake and cupcakes inside as well as food prepared by Stefano’s mother, who just also happens to own an Italian restaurant.
And just before I left, Evelyn and Stefano shared a traditional cake cutting!
Congratulations Evelyn and Stefano! I cannot wait to serve you again next year! Happy wedding day 10/10/2020!
And thank you to these incredible wedding professionals who helped make the day so very special:
