Engagements

Seriously sometimes I just can’t get over how many amazing couples I get to work with and Megan and Chris are no exception. We never had the chance to meet before they booked me, so the engagement session was the first time. I can’t even begin to describe how fun, joyful and down-to-earth these two are. Not only are they just perfect for each other, but just being around them for a little while is enough time for their happiness to rub off on you! Megan is a natural beauty and her smile lights up the atmosphere..as well as Chris’ eyes! And having two fur babies myself, you can imagine how happy I was to know that their two pups would be joining them for part of the engagement session as well!

Even though it was a rainy day with no glorious sunset over the skyline, the beautiful wet changing leaves of the Thorton Gap entrance and overlooks made a fantastic background for a couple who loves to have fun outside. The rain cleared just in time for our session together and I couldn’t think of a better spot to photograph these two!

But really, you MUST read their love and proposal story in Megan’s own words because it’s pretty special!

The Love Story:

“While I was in dental school, some of my best friends were people that went to college with Chris. They would always tell funny stories about him, he was sort of a legend in our group of friends, but I had never met him. I finally met the legendary “Bunting” at a concert in June of 2013. He was wearing a yellow women’s beach cover up that said Beckley WV and had a picture of a fish on it. I thought he was funny and cute but he was living 3 hours away (in Beckley, WV) at the time.. so the thought of dating him never really crossed my mind. In July we saw each other again at a friend’s wedding. I’ll never forget when all of our friends were in a circle on the dance floor having a dance off and Chris decided to pick me up and twirl me around (while I was in a dress)! We spent some time together at the wedding after party and he smoothly asked me for my number so he could “send me pictures of the puppy he was going to get the next week.” I’m a dog lover and naïve so I just took it for what it was and gave him my number. We texted some, and sometime in August he said he wanted to stop by while he was in town so I could meet his new puppy. Looking back on it now, I realize he was totally trying to pick me up, but at the time I thought we were just friends hanging out, eating pizza, and playing with his cute puppy. (Little did I know that cute puppy, Abbott, would grow up to be one of my beloved fur babies… even if he is the craziest dog I’ve ever met). Chris and I talked on and off for months after that but nothing really came of it until March of 2014. After a few green beers and shots from a now infamous bottle of Jameson (we still have the bottle in our bar) we decided to date. I’ll be honest I don’t remember how the conversation of us deciding to date went, other than me telling Chris that I had to move wherever the Army told me to when I was done with school, and him saying “I can be a pharmacist anywhere!” I think now after two moves and three state pharmacy licenses in less than two years, he probably regrets saying that! The next day we went on a date to a Pittsburgh Penguins game and the Cheesecake Factory and it was kind of awkward but I knew this guy was special and that I really liked him… and the rest is history!”

The Proposal Story:

“At my dental school graduation party, Chris was wearing a nice outfit with these old shoes and I asked him (maybe a couple times) to put on the nice leather boat shoes I had bought him. Well finally he told my friend Megan (the MOH) that he was going to go put the nice shoes on and asked if she would take a picture of me and him after he changed. I didn’t find out until later that not only did he change his shoes, he also grabbed the ring and told all of my family and friends to come outside. So Chris and I are posing for a couple pictures… and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee proposing to me. The pictures my friend Megan took are awesome… at first you can see him taking the ring out of his pocket, then getting down on one knee, and then finally me looking at him and realizing what was going on! She even got a video of him asking me to marry him. I also found out later that my friend taking the pictures had no clue he was going to propose… I totally thought she was in on it! It was so special to have all of my favorite people in the world there when he proposed to me. I think my favorite part of the whole day was when we told his parents. His parents live about an hour and a half from where we had my graduation party, so we drove up there afterwards to tell them the news (they had no clue he was going to propose). I will never forget the look of pure joy on his parents’ face when we told them we were engaged. His mom started to cry, gave me a huge hug, and said “finally!!! a girl in the family!!!!” (Chris is from a family of 3 boys). Our proposal story may not be one of those fancy ones you read about on the internet, but to me it absolutely perfect!”

Congratulations!

I can’t wait for your 2017 wedding!
