I am so honored to share highlights from Megan and Chris’ big day with you today! From the first time I met these two, I knew they were a perfect match and I anticipated that their day would be fun, relaxed and full of life and love. And sure enough, that’s exactly what it was…because that’s who they are! Every vendor who was a part of their wedding day team couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they were, what a sweet and lovely bride Megan really is and how her parent’s property was the perfect place for their beautiful and lively wedding day.
From the very beginning, Megan was full of joy and was just really, really enjoying her day. From bridal portraits in the woods, to an emotional first look with her dad, Megan enjoyed every part of the early afternoon. And when it came time to marry the man of her dreams, she was beaming! Chris’ expressions are simply priceless and every detail was perfect from the draped trees to the yellow roses in honor of Megan’s grandmother who had passed away just the week before. The ceremony was full of such sweet sentiments, memories and a promise of commitment. My favorite moment was when Megan was supposed to repeat after the minister and she didn’t say a word. When he prompted her, she snapped out of her daze and said something to the effect of, “I’m sorry! Chris’s eyes are just so dreamy!”
And that pretty much describes these two!!! They are truly and simply in love. And their entire day reflected it. The beautiful navy, green and neutral palette of the day was just another reflection of the kind of effortless beauty that just radiated from this couple. It was a special tented reception with custom bar, farm tables, wooden dance floor and suspended cafe lighting, thanks to Main Street Weddings. Everything reflected their love of the great outdoors and for their friends. I loved their sweet embossed mugs they gave their guests as well! And of course, a dessert bar was fitting!
The graciousness of Megan’s family, friends and guests goes without saying. It was a fun and joyful group and everyone was ready to celebrate. Megan and her dad didn’t just slow dance during their daddy/daughter dance, as you can see! There was no shortage of fun and excitement during the day and well into the evening.
Thank you so much Megan and Chris for the honor of photographing your wedding! It was a wonderful day surrounded by beauty, joy and laughter and I couldn’t be happier to have been there to witness and record it! Congratulations Megan and Chris!
And so I have to conclude by sharing their love and proposal story in Megan’s words, followed by the amazing vendors who made their day so very special!!!
The Love Story:
“While I was in dental school, some of my best friends were people that went to college with Chris. They would always tell funny stories about him, he was sort of a legend in our group of friends, but I had never met him. I finally met the legendary “Bunting” at a concert in June of 2013. He was wearing a yellow women’s beach cover up that said Beckley WV and had a picture of a fish on it. I thought he was funny and cute but he was living 3 hours away (in Beckley, WV) at the time.. so the thought of dating him never really crossed my mind. In July we saw each other again at a friend’s wedding. I’ll never forget when all of our friends were in a circle on the dance floor having a dance off and Chris decided to pick me up and twirl me around (while I was in a dress)! We spent some time together at the wedding after party and he smoothly asked me for my number so he could ‘send me pictures of the puppy he was going to get the next week.’ I’m a dog lover and naïve so I just took it for what it was and gave him my number. We texted some, and sometime in August he said he wanted to stop by while he was in town so I could meet his new puppy. Looking back on it now, I realize he was totally trying to pick me up, but at the time I thought we were just friends hanging out, eating pizza, and playing with his cute puppy. (Little did I know that cute puppy, Abbott, would grow up to be one of my beloved fur babies… even if he is the craziest dog I’ve ever met). Chris and I talked on and off for months after that but nothing really came of it until March of 2014. After a few green beers and shots from a now infamous bottle of Jameson (we still have the bottle in our bar) we decided to date. I’ll be honest I don’t remember how the conversation of us deciding to date went, other than me telling Chris that I had to move wherever the Army told me to when I was done with school, and him saying ‘I can be a pharmacist anywhere!’ I think now after two moves and three state pharmacy licenses in less than two years, he probably regrets saying that! The next day we went on a date to a Pittsburgh Penguins game and the Cheesecake Factory and it was kind of awkward but I knew this guy was special and that I really liked him… and the rest is history!”
The Proposal Story:
“At my dental school graduation party, Chris was wearing a nice outfit with these old shoes and I asked him (maybe a couple times) to put on the nice leather boat shoes I had bought him. Well finally he told my friend Megan (the MOH) that he was going to go put the nice shoes on and asked if she would take a picture of me and him after he changed. I didn’t find out until later that not only did he change his shoes, he also grabbed the ring and told all of my family and friends to come outside. So Chris and I are posing for a couple pictures… and the next thing I knew he was down on one knee proposing to me. The pictures my friend Megan took are awesome… at first you can see him taking the ring out of his pocket, then getting down on one knee, and then finally me looking at him and realizing what was going on! She even got a video of him asking me to marry him. I also found out later that my friend taking the pictures had no clue he was going to propose… I totally thought she was in on it! It was so special to have all of my favorite people in the world there when he proposed to me. I think my favorite part of the whole day was when we told his parents. His parents live about an hour and a half from where we had my graduation party, so we drove up there afterwards to tell them the news (they had no clue he was going to propose). I will never forget the look of pure joy on his parents’ face when we told them we were engaged. His mom started to cry, gave me a huge hug, and said “finally!!! a girl in the family!!!!” (Chris is from a family of 3 boys). Our proposal story may not be one of those fancy ones you read about on the internet, but to me it absolutely perfect!”
