The Eighteen Couples of 2018

Virginia Wedding Photographer

I really didn’t plan it this way, but yes! I photographed eighteen weddings in 2018. It’s a little over the fifteen I had originally planned, but I just couldn’t say no to those three other couples. And truthfully, their dates also worked out well. So I had to carve some time out of my crazy schedule to share with you the eighteen couples of 2018. They are all special and it was a joy to serve each of them!

The Early Summer Weddings

Starting with the first wedding of the year, Jackie and Todd tied the knot at the Columns at Six Penny Farm, otherwise known as Brix and Columns Vineyard. These fellow JMU alumni planned their Gatsby influenced wedding from two states away! Jackie even had a detachable full tulle skirt to wear to the ceremony! Their impeccable style fell second, however to their gracious hospitality and generous spirits!

Melissa and Tim probably get the “make me cry the most during your vows” award for the year. They have already faced so many of life’s challenges together and have chosen to love one another through it all. These two DC lawyers knew they needed to get out of the city and have a wonderful relaxing wedding in Virginia’s wine country. So Rixey Manor was the perfect answer for their perfect day!

Alli and Jacob planned their wedding while Alli was in the middle of her final year of college and Jacob was just starting a new job with the local police force. They had some very supportive families who helped make things easier for the two of them. And they chose a venue that suited their rustic glam style, Brandy Hill Farm. It was a beautiful day with many happy tears and such an incredibly sweet couple!

Makayla and Nick’s wedding day seemed to kick off what would become the rainiest wedding year on record for me! Their big day may have included four storms converging into one right over them, a family member struck by lightning (he’s OK) and a completely soaked out ceremony site (on Makayla’s family’s beautiful secluded property). BUT it also included a LOT of LOVE, a family that came together to make it work and a precious and gorgeous newly-wed couple!

The Midsummer Weddings

Amanda and Noah are college sweethearts (and fellow JMU alumni!). They planned their local wedding at Brandy Hill Farm during mid-June, the same year they also planned on buying their first house together. Needless to say, they planned the rustic-glam wedding of their dreams and were such incredibly gracious hosts! They tied the knot in front of a greenery-laden hoop and danced the night away in the barn!

Rachel and Robert planned their wedding from several states away on a Friday in June at Morais Vineyards. Theirs was a destination wedding at a shared favorite venue they knew their families would love. The day began with torrential downpours, road closures for flooding and a declared state of emergency! It had been raining for days. But nothing could stop these two from having the loveliest wedding with a gorgeous indoor space, a whole lot of love and a fantastic reception! And a VERY small break in the weather long enough to steal away for a few vineyard images…

Sari and Cole were married the very next day during a sunshine filled day from start to finish. They said “I do” on an island at their favorite local winery. Their Old House Vineyards wedding even boasted a spectacular golden hour! Sari and Cole danced the night away with friends and family in the pavilion after securing their lock of love.

Natrisha and Damon were married at a lovely outdoor location as well…Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.  The only drawback…the heat index made their 95 degree day feel like it was 105. But fortunately, their golden hour was much less harsh. They had such a wonderful group of family and friends and the most heartfelt expressions of love all throughout their Big Day.

Maribel and Patrick’s day was full of so many wonderful events…sharing vows with each other during their First Look, a Catholic Ceremony at St. John’s, a band AND a DJ at The Black Horse Inn and much more. Family and friends came from all around the world to celebrate this incredible day with the most perfect weather!

The Late Summer Weddings

Jessica and Chris tied the knot at Morais Vineyards on another one of those incredibly rainy days. But again, wow! They had the sweetest day, filled with the kind of vows that make you cry and toasts that make you need an entire box of tissues. And they were even blessed with a break in the rain before sundown. What a wonderful wedding day it was!

Tracy and Kenny’s Walden Hall wedding was filled with family, friends and florals! Tracy’s bridesmaid and co-worker/employer also just happens to own a floral farm and is truly a talented floral designer. Their day was fun, festive and romantic with their own shrimp bar courtesy of the groom!

The Early Fall Weddings

Megan and Ben also tied the knot at Walden Hall with a very special member of the wedding party…Winston! Their fur baby is not only famous on instagram, but now at Walden Hall too. These two danced their way into the hearts of all who served them! And it’s possible that Winston charmed the heck out of us too!

Niyati and Jeremy planned their Walden Hall wedding two states away…and not just one wedding but two! Their first Western ceremony was held the evening prior to their full day Indian wedding. Both were fantastic despite some rain driving the ceremony inside the barn the second day. After photographing these two in Arizona and at Rixey Manor for their engagement session, I knew their two wedding days were going to be so very special. For all the time I have spent with Niyati and Jeremy, I can honestly say that these two generous and gracious souls are a perfect match!

Amanda and Kyle’s on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor at the Frederick Douglass Isaac Maritime Park Museum, which just happens to be across the water from where they work at Under Armor. These college sweethearts had the most fabulous wedding day complete with a nautical theme along with a nod to the Under Armor colors. But more than that, they had the sweetest moments with family and friends and a gorgeous waterfront first look!

The Late Fall Weddings

Jessica and Paul were married in a beautiful church and celebrated at the Barns at Wolftrap. These two love their country and their state, share some very specific and endearing interests and more importantly, a sweet love that was clearly articulated by family and friends during the ceremony and the toasts alike. It was a classic and beautiful day and a little rain couldn’t put a damper on all the love.

Brooke and Mike celebrated their wedding at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg with a wonderfully supportive group of family and friends. Not only did they enjoy the peak of the Fall leaves, but they shared the sweetest first look and faith-filled ceremony. And there was plenty of nods in the toasts to the fact that this dashing chocolate marketing guru snagged the pretty lawyer…and that possibly she might want to switch careers to professional chocolate taster so they could work together too!

The Winter Weddings

Natasha and Alex planned their Airlie wedding apart and separated by military service and multiple states. And again, a very rainy day became the backdrop for their Big Day. But these high school sweethearts walked confidently into their marriage. There were so many sweet tears and powerful and emotional sentiments throughout the day! Surrounded by a very supportive group of family and friends, Tasha and Alex enjoyed the wedding day of their dreams.

I ended the 2018 wedding season with couple number 18…Emma and Brooks. Emma and Brooks were married at the Great Marsh Estate on what must have been the rainiest and muddiest day of the year. But their day was defined by love, joy, warmth, and faith. Not only am I blessed to call them friends, but now I’m blessed to have witnessed and recorded this incredible day for them. What a joy it was to serve Emma and Brooks!

Congratulations to the incredible couples of 2018! I am beyond blessed to have had the opportunity to serve each of you. And I am excited to already have photographed some of you for Christmas mini sessions and to already have some one year anniversary sessions scheduled! I am also looking forward to future maternity and family sessions! Congratulations again!
