My first conversation with Jordan and Jackson was over the phone while they were studying abroad this summer in Europe. It was a fun way to “meet” them, but what was even better was meeting them in person for the first time at Shadow Creek. A couple fun facts about meeting them in person:
1. We met in person at their wedding venue, Shadow Creek in Loudon, VA.
2. It was the first time they had been to their venue as they had to book it sight unseen while abroad (thanks to Jordan’s mom for help!)
3. Their wedding planner, Jessica of Jessica Ashley Events helped coordinate the date and also connected us. She is amazing at connecting couples with just the right vendors for each particular couple!
It was a beautiful evening and it was fun to combine a site visit and an engagement session. Shadow Creek is just gorgeous at sunset and since their wedding is in late winter, it was fun to have images with the lush greens of summer for the engagement session.
It was such a joy to get to know Jordan and Jackson more. They are a perfect match. It was also kind of cool to see the ways we connected including a shared faith and outlook on marriage. I can’t wait for their Shadow Creek wedding in March!
In Jordan’s words: “We met in 5th grade while I was visiting his private school. I ended up attending and after a couple years we became really close friends. We had little crushes on each other on and off when we were super young but nothing came of it until Junior year of high school. We had been best friends for a while – basically inseparable when we were around each other.
I knew how wonderful of a man he was through seeing how he handled things and treated me as my best friend. I think I fell in love even before we started dating. We started dating June 14, 2016. Near August 2017, though, I went through a really hard time with my anxiety and was missing Jesus in my life. We both hadn’t been in relationship with him while we’d been dating. So in August of 2017, we changed everything and became Christ-followers.
That was by far the most transformational thing that has happened in our relationship and our lives. That year, we continued to navigate the new roads of a life surrendered to Christ. Through it all, we chose and supported each other. And more importantly, chose Jesus no matter what and that has been the most growing part of our relationship. We have both grown and changed in the most incredible ways and God has continued to bless our love in ways I didn’t know existed. He has truly paved the way for this marriage and we are both so excited.”
“Jackson planned for my best friend to ask me to go to Washington D.C. to take pictures together. That was a normal thing to do for Avery and I, so I didn’t think anything of it. After we had been taking pictures for a bit, Avery led me over to this little island in the middle of a pond and handed me a letter front Jackson.
I was so confused and it took me a second to figure out what was going on. As I was reading the letter, I walked around the corner and Jackson was standing on the little island across a bridge waiting for me. After I read the letter he got down on one knee and I probably let him stay there all of one millisecond before saying yes!”
Jordan and Jackson, congratulations on your engagement and I can’t wait fo your wedding! Keep scrolling for more highlights from their session!
