Oh the anticipation!!! I am pretty excited to share this one-of-a-kind wedding day with you! I have really enjoyed getting to know Meghan and Trevor and since Meghan and I are fellow JMU alumni, it couldn’t have been a better year to connect and work together (and maybe another National Championship this year???!). There were even a couple JMU tables at the reception!
Meghan and Trevor did an incredible job planning their wedding day…they are so organized and had everything ready early. They also had planned a Rixey Manor wedding, so you can count on things moving along smoothly. Meghan and her ladies started with a champaign toast in the master bedroom before Meghan opened the sweetest gift from Trevor…a framed photo of the coordinates/place in all the universe where their love story began! Then after getting ready, Meghan shared a first look with her mom and dad which was a wonderful prelude into the ladies’ portraits together. And Meghan looked absolutely STUNNING in that Watters gown from The Lovely Bride!
Then came time for the first look…Trevor could not be more awe struck! And we were joined for their portraits by their beloved dog, Seth. Oh my, isn’t he a cutie in that tux? And did I mention that Meghan is responsible for Trevor’s attire since she just happens to be a designer with The Trunk Club? Notice those little details…the date sewn on the inside pocket as well as the “I Do” under the collar!
After the first look we all made our way to St. John’s Catholic Church in Warrenton. Father Val made a special trip to officiate Meghan and Trevor’s wedding day! It was a beautiful service and even had a few moments of humor (sorry, Johnny, but I have to)…when Meghan’s brother began reading the same passage of Scripture that was just read and then choosing to finish it since he was already halfway through! But like a great marriage, you have to have some humor, you have to be able to laugh!
You would think that rounding up ten bridesmaids and ten groomsmen might require extra handiwork, but not at all with this group!!! After the reception, the bridal party posed for some great group photos as did the family. And it is always a joy to do these alongside the talented team from Olea Films. Have you seen the wedding teaser? I mean, wow!
The reception was just beautiful! Because they had over 200 guests, Meghan and Trevor had the reception tented behind the ballroom and the ballroom was just for dancing. The tables looked incredible, full of lush greens and candlelight thanks to the incredible work of Good Earth Flowers. A Taste of Elegance provided a delightful fare and the appetizers looked amazing and I heard many guests comment on how delish they were! And who doesn’t love Duck Donuts for dessert?!
One of my favorite parts of the reception had to be the speeches…especially Meghan’s brother’s speech. Hearing all about his admiration and love for his sister brought tears to our eyes. And the best man, maid of honor and father of the bride also delivered speeches that gave us insight on all of the special traits that make Meghan and Trevor a fabulous couple as well as individuals.
And then the golden hour…oh my! Meghan and Trevor have an undeniable chemistry that can’t be missed during the golden hour photos…which only carried over into their first dance. And then more tears for the sweet and fun dance with Meghan and her dad and then Trevor and his mom. And then after a fun sparkler soirée with the bridal party, the dancing began. Marquise must be one of the best wedding bands I have ever seen perform. They were truly entertaining, talented and kept everyone moving on the dance floor!
It was hard to say goodbye. What a wonderful couple and I can’t wait to see photos from their honeymoon as well…they are going somewhere really special! Shhh!
So let me share with you how they met and then read on to see the list of super cool cats who helped make their day sooooo very special!
The Love Story:
It’s amazing how these two never met prior to 2015 because they grew up a mere ten minutes away from each other in Maryland. But their worlds did not collide until February 2015 at a 90’s cover band concert in DC. The two say that it’s still up for debate who made the first move and started their first conversation. A week later, Trevor asked Meghan on their first date. They went to a local Mexican restaurant that both had frequented separately dozens of times! They enjoyed a couple of margaritas and Trevor went out of his way to drop Meghan off at home. She was impressed. The two quickly fell for each other. They enjoyed trying new restaurants, hanging with both of their families, taking trips, drinking red wine, listening to records and snuggling with Seth, the puppy Trevor adopted in October 2015. So naturally, Seth had to be a part of their wedding day and he was quite the charmer!
In their own words,
The Proposal Story:
Trevor and Meghan had been eagerly anticipating Trevor’s family reunion at his parents’ home in Ithaca, NY for months. They hit the road early in the morning for the long drive ahead of them. Trevor suggested stopping at a waterfall for a quick hike and photo op. Without realizing Trevor’s ulterior motives, Meghan wanted to skip it and get up to Ithaca sooner. Plan A – failed. The two arrived in New York and spent the first day and evening hanging with Trevor’s family. The next morning Meghan was outside on the deck and out of nowhere was stung in the eye by a bee. Her eye/ entire face immediately swelled. She wasn’t feeling (or looking) her best. Fast forward a few hours – Trevor suggests taking their puppy Seth to a park by the lake. Meghan thought it was getting late and nixed the idea. Plan B- failed. Finally, Trevor convinced Meghan to take a quick dip in the pool. It was an uncharacteristically warm evening in Ithaca. Meghan agreed and the two had a moonlight dip. Before heading back inside, Trevor totally surprised Meghan with a ring. He asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. It took a minute for it to sink in what was actually happening. “Of course,” she replied. Plan C- success.
They spent the next few days with Trevor’s family and headed back to Maryland to celebrate with Meghan’s family. Trevor and Meghan are loving planning their wedding and have finally come to an agreement on the thermostat. They cannot wait to commit to each other in front of all of their friends and family and dance the night away.
