Virginia is home to some of the best winery wedding venues and the finest Virginia wine. Morais Vineyards is no exception.

Morais boasts one of the most lovely bridal suites around as well as a small chapel to host intimate ceremonies. If you have a larger guest count, you can tie the knot under the pergola in front of the pond.

As you walk the grounds of Morais, I’ll capture photos that will grace your home for decades to come. From the vintage glass atrium to the rows of vines, from the front facade of the Portuguese inspire reception hall to the winding staircase, from the dramatic cellar portraits to the little nooks and crannies of the venue...I'll capture it all.

And you’ll always remember how beautiful your day truly was at Morais Vineyards.

"Morais Vineyards & Winery is an elegant wedding venue located just outside of Washington, D.C. This romantic vineyard venue features a variety of indoor and outdoor wedding locations that will have your guests swooning. The large ballroom is the perfect place for grandiose wedding day celebrations, while the impressive courtyards and terraces make the perfect setting for an unforgettable cocktail hour." - Morais Vineyards.

The Front Facade

Morais Vineyards & Winery is perhaps best known for their Portuguese inspired front facade. It's truly a sight to see with it's fountain, arches and impressive landscaping details. It photographs best at golden hour too!

The Bridal Suite

The bridal suite is a lovely spot for the bride to get ready for the day with her ladies. It is also a spot for pretty pictures getting ready! The courtyard and lawn outside is also perfect. I've photographed first looks with dads there, family portraits, bridal party portraits and first looks with the bride and groom in this area as well.

The wine cellar is another iconic place for intentionally lit portraits. It is the perfect spot for dramatic and romantic images amongst the wine barrels. So it smells amazing too!

The Grand Ballroom

The grand ballroom at Morais Vineyards is the perfect space for your reception. There is plenty of room to dance around and their are many possibilities for the table layout you'd like. Designing a floorplan with your wedding planner is fun and has so many options. It's also bright and beautiful and works well as a backup rain plan for the ceremony.

The Grounds & Vines

The grounds of Morais have it all! From the little "hidden" bridge to the rows of grape vines, there is plenty of space for portraits. The pergola is the perfect spot for your ceremony or you can move in close in the intimate chapel. Around every corner is another perfect location.

Should we both get ready at our venue?

Absolutely! Morais Vineyards has a lovely bridal suite and groom's lounge, I highly recommend it. I also recommend keeping the area clean and full of natural light for the preparation photos. View some beautiful images of the bride getting ready at Morais Vineyards HERE!

Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?

I will give you the opportunity months prior to your wedding day to give me feedback for your preferred locations. My favorite locations for family portraits involve the most lovely spots with the most complimentary lighting scenarios. To view more extensive family group portraits, ask to see a full day's wedding gallery at Morais Vineyards!

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?

I work very closely with you and your wedding planner to ensure that you start your ceremony with enough time for the images prior as well as time for golden hour portraits and a steady reception start time. Before you set a start time, let's chat about sunset for your time of year and your wedding day priorities. View a perfectly time wedding day HERE.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

No one wants rain on their wedding day! But if it does rain, your day will still be perfect and your images will be stunning! I have photographed on rainy days and even in hurricanes! I will scout out all the choice locations at your venue and familiarize myself with plan B, C, D and E! Your day will still be as lovely as ever. View highlights from a rainy wedding day HERE.

Should a bride consider bridal portraits?

A thousand times YES! A bridal portrait session provides the opportunity for a bride to prepare for her Big Day with a private session devoted just to her. Bridal portraits do not always happen at golden hour on the wedding day, so a session months prior to the big day provides those gorgeous images in the prettiest light of the day. And they make the BEST surprise wedding day present for the groom! Peruse some of my favorites HERE. And be sure to search the blog for "bridal portraits" to see many more.

Do you recommend any other vendors for my Charlottesville wedding?

Yes I do! I have a wonderful and exclusive list of preferred wedding professionals. Many of them are familiar with the Charlottesville area wedding venues. I provide all of my booked couples with a comprehensive online bridal guide complete with preferred professionals. I'm glad to help match you with the vendors who could be the perfect fit for your style and budget. Find out more about my process HERE.
