Brigitte and Scotty were among the couples of 2020 who had to reschedule their Morais Vineyards wedding day from the Spring too the Fall due to the forced government shut-downs. They have had quite a trying year in many ways. But their love for one another only grew! Their wedding day came with much anticipation. I know I wasn’t the only one a bit sad at the rainy forecast, but it seemed like a small blip in the screen compared to the year’s challenges. Brigitte and Scotty still couldn’t be happier to finally be tying the knot!
These two first met when Scotty was new to the Washington, DC area and was living the life of a single father. As Brigitte retells, “He had just returned home from his 1.5-hour commute from DC to Northern VA, when an old military buddy called and asked him to come back to the city to hang out. With his son Jalen co-signing that he should go, he reluctantly said ok. Brigitte’s neighbor had invited her many times to come join her for a Friday evening happy hour, but Brigitte was regularly on travel for work, or had prior engagements. This particular Friday, she was available and she invited another good girlfriend to join her and her neighbor.
Early in the night, the ladies were sitting at a table near the dance floor (doing what ladies do), when Scotty walked past. After a little coercion, Brigitte took the “table” challenge to get Scotty’s attention. Scotty glided to the table, introduced himself and asked Brigitte to dance. She said YES!! They floated and 2-stepped for two songs, then decided to go to the lounge area with less noise to talk. (Scotty wanted to get her away from the crowd.)
They spent the next 2.5 hours talking, laughing, sharing stories and complimenting each other on their ‘Colgate’ smiles. They pretty much interviewed each other for compatibility! (No games as they both value their time) Scotty called Brigitte that night to make sure she made it home safely and to ask her out for a date the next day. Again, she said YES!!!”
And that first date moved along to a proposal, engagement and finally, the Big Day at Morais Vineyards! Brigitte enjoyed preparing for the day with her beautiful, attentive and supportive ladies by her side.
Brigitte donned her stunning Posh Bridal Couture gown with all the incredible details to compliment it. And the most important detail…a frame with her father’s photo on it around her bouquet to walk down the aisle with her.
Brigitte’s light and lovely floral choices and the blush bridesmaid dresses really brightened up an otherwise rainy/misty day.
These women were gorgeous and clearly amazing friends. Shalonda not only gave the brightest smile, but the sweetest toast at the reception as well!
Brigitte also opened a gift from Scotty…a diamond bracelet. And she paused for a few special photographs with her mother!
Meanwhile, Scotty was preparing for the day with his groomsmen. Some warm embraces and assistance with ties and cuff links were shared with his best men, including his two sons.
Scotty also prepared for the day by securing every last detail..
He also opened a gift from Brigitte as well as from some of his best men!
It was soon time for their first look! Brigitte and Scotty chose to have their first look inside the chapel at Morais Vineyard due to the weather. It was a sweet and cozy place to see each other for the first time that day.
And wow! Was Scotty overwhelmed at the sight of his beautiful bride!
They also posed together on the Morais Vineyard staircase in the reception hall. It was decorated to perfection thanks to Dragonflly Events!

Then it was time for Scotty to poe with his men!

Soon it was time for the ceremony. The reception hall looked lovely!
Scotty walked down the aisle to wait for his beautiful bride!
What a wonderful start to their ceremony. The two prepared to share their vows with each other and listened to an encouraging message from their pastor.
Their vows were so moving and told of their deep love and admiration for one another!
After they shared communion and a few more traditions, they sealed it with a kiss!
then the two walked triumphantly back down the aisle TOGETHER.
After a few more family photos, we made our way to the infamous Morais Vineyards wine cellar for some portraits there.
We captured a few outside the atrium as well. Even though it was locked and we couldn’t get in, we got a few outside before the rain was too much for our gear!
Meanwhile, staff was flipping the reception hall, preparing it for the reception.
The florals and hints of candlelight set the stage for a fantastic evening.
And how about that sweetheart table?!!!
The cake looked too good to eat as well.
Brigitte and Scotty enjoyed a few whirls around their reception hall prior to grand entrance.
And then it was time for the grand entrance. The excitement built as these two were preceded by their wedding party!
They entered straight into their first dance as husband and wife!
After dinner, the toast began and there were tears, laughter and friends and family who could not say enough about the love these two share, not only with each other, but with those around them.
Not a dry eye!!!
Brigitte and Scotty also took the opportunity to thank their guests for joining them on this day!
And then it was time to cut that lovely hand crafted cake!
Scotty also posed for some portraits by the stairs.
The evening was filled with fun and dancing as well as the “shoe game” where everyone had the chance to learn a little more about Brigitte and Scotty!
Everyone danced through the evening until it was time for their grand exit!
Brigitte and Scotty left to a glow wand exit and said goodbye to these wonderful guests who supported and loved them throughout the wedding day and through life!
