Meadowlark Botanical Gardens | Virginia Engagement Session | Brooke and Mike

Engagements

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite places in Northern Virginia…especially for photographing engagement sessions.  It can be tricky though because they require you to finish photographing an hour before closing. This means that most of the year you have to stop photographing right before that magical golden hour.  But in August, right before the time change comes, you can snag that perfect timing.  So when Brooke and Mike wanted to schedule their engagement session then at Meadowlark, I was thrilled!

I really enjoyed getting to know these two better.  Brooke recently transitioned into a job she enjoys and Mike. Well, Mike basically figures out ways to make chocolate more appealing and marketable for Hershey.  I’m not too sure how hard it is to convince people that chocolate is more delicious than we already know it to be.  But if there’s a way, Mike will do it!  (Did you know there is also an actually job as a chocolatier?!!!) It was also equally exciting to hear about their plans for the coming year and for their big day in Loudon County this Fall when they tie the knot.

Strolling around Meadowlark Botanical

You would think that strolling through Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in late August would be like serving up a heat stroke.  But it was pleasantly warm rather than stiflingly hot.  It was the perfect time to observe how this sweet couple interact and engage them with each other and the camera.  Now, I really can’t wait for their big day and for an upcoming site visit.

When I asked Brooke how she and Mike met, this is what she said:

“Mike and I met last January through Match.com. We connected immediately over a shared love of S’mores and C.S. Lewis. It didn’t hurt that Mike is cute, loves Jesus, and works for The Hershey Company. Mike lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Virginia, so we had a little long distance relationship. Mike has family in Northern Virginia and we’ve been able to spend most weekends together.”

(Chocolate, C.S. Lewis, and Jesus sound good to me, Brooke and Mike!)

And this is how Mike popped the question:

“One Saturday Mike and I went on an adventure to The Inn at Little Washington. We went for a stroll around the Inn’s nature path and Mike proposed in the middle of the field. It was the perfect secluded setting for a very special moment. Afterwards we walked the town and celebrated with dinner at the Inn.”

I just love the Inn at Little Washington and the surrounding area.  Mike did a great job planning the perfect proposal.  I am so happy for these two and I can’t wait to serve them on their big day this November!

Congratulations Brooke and Mike!
