After seeing the rapport between Brooke and Mike during their August engagement session at Meadowlark, I was eagerly anticipating their November Leesburg wedding. Brooke works in the legal field, Mike works for Hershey in Pennsylvania and they met on Match.com. They discovered that they had similar interests with s’mores, the author C.S. Lewis and their faith….all great things! Their love story is sweet and their wedding day was a beautiful celebration of that story.
Brooke and Mike decided to exchange vows at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia. The chapel is an exquisite wedding venue with lots of stone inside and out, and lends itself to both the wedding ceremony and the reception. Wedding details were thoughtfully planned by this couple, which made it so enjoyable to photograph!
A gorgeous floral invitation suite set the tone for this event. The corals, pinks and navy blue colors were tastefully carried throughout the wedding.
Brooke’s mother helped her get ready for her big day. I loved the happy smiles captured between Brooke and her mother! Brooke’s Vera Wang wedding dress was a strapless gown with sheer layers that were romantically ethereal. The dress picked up the colors of the changing daylight, which was especially beautiful as we took pictures outside. The day was windy and, while windy days can bring their own challenges, this day it worked to our advantage!
In their elegant blush pink gowns, the bridesmaids helped Brooke outside. Their bouquets coordinated wonderfully with their dresses and picked up the deep colors of the fall leaves.
Laughter and joy characterized her father’s first look at Brooke. He has an excellent sense of humor that added so much to the moment! We were able to take some very special Mom/Dad/Daughter shots that captured the upbeat and happy spirit of the day. Smiles were everywhere!
Mike prepared in the chapel area with the wooden stage, providing a great backdrop for pictures. We then headed outside for more pictures with the groomsmen and Mike’s family.
Upon his first look at Brooke, Mike was overwhelmed with emotion at his beautiful bride! They exchanged personal letters to read before the ceremony, then enjoyed a few quiet moments together.
In spite of the wind, or maybe because of it, we captured some perfect shots of the couple as they strolled around the grounds, which were immaculately landscaped. The fall leaves had decided to stay on the trees for awhile longer, adding richly subtle color to the portraits.
The wedding ceremony was held in the main hall of the church, where the geometrical architecture was gorgeous…and the natural light was unparalleled!
Following a time-honored tradition, Brooke’s father escorted his beautiful daughter down the aisle. This is always such a special moment!
Mike teared up as Brooke came down the aisle. He then embraced Brooke’s father before turning to his bride to exchange rings and vows. The ceremony was meaningful and faith-filled with communion being taken during the ceremony. I loved how the faith of this couple took center-stage at their wedding!
Following the ceremony, this good-natured wedding party and family got together for some great after wedding shots!
Everyone was a good sport throughout, making this wedding a joy to shoot.
Though initially reluctant, the shy little niece joined in for some especially sweet pictures with Brooke and her veil.
The four-string quartet that played at the wedding continued to play on the stage throughout the reception. The wedding couple moved into a beautifully decorated reception room with both high and low floral arrangements and candlelight. A delicious meal was attentively served by Savoir Fare Events.
The round cake was simple, but very elegant with roses in wedding colors topping the cake. The cake was displayed on a square silver stand. Absolutely gorgeous!
As Mike and Brooke entered their reception, they were welcomed with a speech from a friend and then proceeded with their first dance as husband and wife. There were lots of smiles and a few kisses between this sweet couple.
We were able to catch some beautiful portraits just before dusk….the wind was gently blowing, showing off Brooke’s dress and veil to their best advantage. They turned the cafe lights on for us, which was AMAZING!!!
Mike and Brooke were great together…..so much chemistry and joy, which were evident in all their pictures. They were so easy to photograph!
As speeches for the couple were made by the best man, maid of honor and the groom’s sisters, there were many jokes about Brooke’s law school days and her chocolateman. Their faith and love for family were especially noted by those close to them.
Mike and Brooke shared their cake with the same smiles and happiness that had characterized the entire day.
As this wedding day came to a close, Mike and Brooke left their friends and family with a fun nighttime bubble exit. It was the perfect ending to a day that can only be described as joyful!
