Kati and Brendan call it love at first site…maybe even before that as Kati googled Brendan before he began his job working for the same agency as Kati. After many months of flirting and getting to know each other, the two began the journey of a New York City dating relationship, a deep friendship and a Hudson River engagement. So navigating the waters of planning a King Family Vineyards Wedding while remaining a NYC couple may have been impossible for some, but not for these two! Kati and Brendan’s wedding was full of travel, fun and solemn vows to last a lifetime.

The Day Begins

I began photographing at Kati’s mother’s house in the Charlottesville area. Kati had the joy of preparing for her day in the comfort of her mother’s home along with her bridesmaids right beside her. I carefully photographed the details of the day, to include some special heirloom items and these classic pink pumps!

I love how Katie’s bridal style perfectly suits her! That sleek, yet comfortable updo pairs perfectly with these sparkly earrings. And her classically beautiful personally designed dress from Jude Jowilson!

Kati loved Jude Jowilson dresses and went into the boutique in New York. She couldn’t find exactly the style she had in mind. Then Jude walked into the store to deliver a dress and came to her rescue. He sketched the design for the dress she wanted and created it just for her! The dress is named after her, “The Kathryn.”!!!

The Men

Groom preparations moved from a hotel to the site of the ceremony, Holy Comforter Catholic Church. Brendan made sure every detail was just right, including his cuffs embroidered with the wedding date!

Brendan tried to relax prior to Kati’s arrival and the start of the ceremony. But that’s a tough thing to do when you are excited to begin married life with your love!

The Ceremony

Brendan was pleasantly overwhelmed at the site of his bride. And the ceremony was a perfect representation of much of what they hold dear…their faith, family, friends and each other. It was even more personal and unique to then with their family friend, Rev. Peter Folan officiating.

King Family Vineyards

Once the knot was tied, we began large formal family photos outside of the church. Then everyone traveled back to King Family Vineyards for more formal group photos. Group photos were one of the top priorities of the day for Kati and Brendan so we left plenty of time for them in the day’s timeline.

It was definitely once of those days that went from cloudy darkness to bright sun again and again and again! So we navigated all of the weather changes from bright to dark and back gain. Kati and Brendan’s wedding day was made even more spectacular thanks to the most cooperative, helpful and FUN wedding party. They participated in the group portraits while also enjoying King Family Vineyards and all it has to offer.

The men and the women posed with the beautiful backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains behind them.

The colors in the light and the sky continuously changed, providing a gorgeous array of colors and changing landscape.

Kati also posed for some bridal portraits, taking advantage again of a change in scenery from New York.

Kati and Brendan also left plenty of time in their timeline for some romantic portraits together. They danced, embraced, dipped and smooched!

That dress is just perfect for twirling and dancing in the fields!

Kati and Brendan led each other through the back of the field, which provided plenty to see. The vineyard was packed with a family event so we stayed primarily close to the reception space, which was lovely!

Kati then donned her veil again for some photographs with the veil on before heading back inside to start the reception.

The Reception

The reception was decorated with the same deep red, green and whites in Kati and Brendan’s wedding day palette.

The King Family Vineyards reception space was so warm and inviting, complete with place cards, candles and a lot of greenery!

The salads were plated for the guests and the reception began with Kati and Brendan’s first public dance as husband and wife!

It continued with some pretty informative and glowing welcome speeches from their parents while guest tried Rizz and Murph’s signature drinks of the evening. The Murph-tini and Gin Rizz!

Before my time ended, I was witness to the maids of honor and best man speeches as well. I can most assuredly say that Rizz and Murph are well loved! I heard stories about how Rizz will drop anything to help someone she loves and how Murph is an encourager and supporter. It was obvious to all that they were a match from the beginning and will continue to be a dynamic duo! Their King Family Vineyards wedding day was unforgettable and was most certainly highlight of my career this year. It has been such a pleasure and joy to serve them.

Thank you!
