I am so excited to share Kayla and Mike’s William and Mary engagement session. These two are true college sweethearts!! Our time on campus made me fall in love with W&M as well! I learned a lot more about the school as well as the superstitions behind the Crim Dell Bridge! did you know that the superstition supposes that if a couple crosses the Crim Dell bridge and kiss at its peak, they are destined to live happily ever after? Yet if they break up, the spouse must throw her ex off the Crim Dell bridge to break a curse, or risk being single forever. It is also superstition that if you cross the Crim Dell bridge alone, you will remain alone for all eternity…I, however, am off the hook since I am already married!

Kayla and Mike are so stunning and confident together. We stoppedby so many great spots…the Wren Building, the Crim Dell Bridge, and their freshman dorm where they first met. And finally, a quick evening stop right in front of the start of Colonial Williamsburg.

I was so happy to get to know them better and I want to share their sweet love story with you in Kayla’s own words!

“Mike and I met in our freshman year of college at William & Mary. We dated for four and a half years before he proposed in September 2015. I think we both knew pretty early on into dating that we would be together forever. We were best friends right away. Some of my favorite memories of our relationship are the simple ones– taking long walks around campus and Colonial Williamsburg, waking up early to catch breakfast together in the dining hall before classes, our pizza making dinner nights. We are so excited to get married!”

And how he proposed:

“Mike and I had gone camping for the weekend. I knew a proposal was coming in the near future, but definitely didn’t think he would propose that weekend– I am much more of a ‘camping person’ than he is and he was being a good sport about agreeing to go. In fact, I had even made a joke at him saying there was absolutely no chance he would propose that weekend since he wasn’t a big fan of camping. Little did I know! In the morning, after breakfast at a local diner, we went on a hike up to a historic lighthouse. Mike was walking really fast on the hike, but I didn’t think anything of it at the time– I thought he just wanted to be done with the hike. After we got to the lighthouse and wandered around for a bit, he asked someone to take a picture of us– unusual for him since I’m usually the picture taker out of the two of us. That’s when I put two and two together and realized what was happening! He proposed by the lighthouse, overlooking the water. It was very sweet and he completely succeeded at surprising me!”

Seriously these two! I am so glad we could do this at the site of their beginnings together…a William and Mary engagement session was just so fitting!!

Congratulations Kayla and Mike…I can’t wait for your big day!
