Great Marsh Estate Engagement Session

Catie and Andrew

I met Catie two years ago at the wedding of one of her amazing friends, Kayla. Kayla and Mike’s wedding day was a beautiful one and Catie was a very helpful, kind and beaming bridesmaid. Little did I know then that I would be serving Catie years later at her won wedding! It was equally as fun to meet Andrew at their engagement session at the Great Marsh Estate. Great Marsh also happens to be their wedding venue so it was fitting for us to photograph their engagement session here as well!

Theirs is also a tale of two sweethearts…two middle school sweethearts! It was during that special time of life that is middle school when Catie and Andrew met for the first time. It was an involvement in community service that brought them together as friends. Later, they both enrolled in the same college, William & Mary. But it wasn’t until after college when they both ended up in Atlanta, GA that they realized they were perfect for each other.

In Catie’s words, “We are both so thankful that our paths continued to cross and God gave us the chance to grow together throughout our lives. We are now both together in Washington, DC and can’t wait to see what the future holds!”

Planning for the Big Day

A very special piece of that future involves tying the knot later this year at the Great Marsh Estate. Photographing at the engagement session at Great Marsh during golden hour is always a treat. And we were thrilled to have slightly chilly but dry with warm air after so many months of rain, cold and mud.

That warm and golden sunlight! You would never know it was chilly!

Catie and Andrew even took advantage of a change of outfits during the session to capture a bit of a Winter and a Fall look as well!

So How Did Andrew Propose?

“Since we are both William & Mary alums, Andrew decided that homecoming weekend was the perfect time to propose. Walking through Colonial Williamsburg with our friend Kelsey (who was in on the plan); Andrew found my favorite garden tucked among the beautiful setting. Kelsey was nearby to capture the special moment. We spent the rest of the day celebrating among friends and fellow alumni. It was a very special day!”

Congratulations Catie and Andrew on your engagement! I cannot wait for your wedding day later this year!
