There’s something special about ending your 2022 wedding season with a December wedding. And it’s even more special when it’s a fellow JMU alumni AND a former student at the gorgeous Evergreen Country Club, no less! I’ve been looking forward to Abigail and Gregory’s wedding day for some time now and the day finally came! It was a beautiful and cool morning with no rain and a crisp and happy feeling in the air.
Abigail and Gregory had an early Spring engagement session at Airlie that was also cool, but the warmth of their enduring friendship and love shows through. And again, it was obvious on their wedding day as well. They were both a little nervous, excited and incredibly ready to see each other. They had decided on a first look and they were both full of awe and joy upon seeing each other for the first time that day in their wedding attire.
After some incredible portraits together and with their supportive and fun wedding squad, they said “I do” in the stunning Stone Garden ceremony area that overlooks the rolling hills and iconic Virginia woodland. They exited their ceremony with purple and gold streamers thrown in the air around them as a nod to JMU! They were also able to secure the Duke Dog statue for their reception space from JMU, so I may have also snuck in a few pics with the Duke Dog!
Their wedding day was full of Christmas themed, chic wedding details (including those incredible Baltic Born bridesmaid dresses!) and unforgettable moments, including a spectacular toast from Abigail’s Maid of Honor, who dubbed herself their official “third wheel.” It was evident that Abigail and Gregory had a loyal and loving group of besties who were excited to share the day with them.
One of my favorite moments was watching Abigail’s grandparents dance together during the anniversary dance after having recently celebrated their 70th year of marriage. It was a precious moment and it was no surprise that Abigail and Gregory would choose to honor them on their first day as husband and wife.
From the special dances to their white wintery cake, from their private dance at the end of the evening to their sparkler exit…Abigail and Gregory had the BEST DAY EVER and no one wanted the evening to end.
It was such a perfect day and despite the cold air, Abigail and Gregory were the warmest of hosts. They were full of joy and laughter as they graced the grounds of Evergreen Country Club with its luscious green lawns and Christmas wreath-laden windows.
