Emily and Robert’s first date began with laying on a field in the middle of their college campus, starring at the stars together. They went on to begin a relationship that often involved distance between them due to schooling and naval training. So here they are a few years later, finally closing the gap on the distance and dining under the stars at their Rixey Manor wedding!

The Ladies

Their day began with bridal preparations and Emily reading a letter from Robert. What a very sweet moment!

After reading the letter and finishing her final preparations, Emily was ready for her bridal portraits. She had the most gorgeous golden hour for her bridal portrait session (HERE) a week prior. So it was fun to have some earlier in the day on her wedding day as well!

Emily makes such a beautiful bride! She was radiant and so happy. Her parents joined her in the joy as well. And her ladies were so very lovely in blue! They were full of grace and love.

The Men

Robert also read his letter from Emily while Emily was with her ladies. He donned his full naval uniform and was ready to meet his bride at the church.

Robert had a full sword arch squad as well as his groomsmen. They were all classically dressed in black and white. And one of the sweetest components…Emily’s brother was one of the groomsmen and Robert’s sister was one of Emily’s bridesmaids. I loved how these two love their families so much and how important it was for them to have them as part of their wedding party!

The Ceremony

Their wedding ceremony was held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Warrenton. It was a beautiful celebration and the two were finally able to see each other and tie the knot!

At the end of the ceremony, Emily and Robert left to the sword arch and Emily was officially welcomed as part of the US Naval family! I simply love this part of a military wedding!

Once back at Rixey Manor, we photographed the bridal party together as well as portraits of the married couple.

Emily and Robert braved the heat for some beautiful romantic portraits before the start of the reception.

The Reception

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour and then it was time for the reception to begin at the tent pad behind the manor. Everything was so lovely in shades of dusty blues and blush with lush greens.

The reception was a wonderful celebration of their love and families coming together! From the first dance to the special toasts, it was a fantastic celebration. Even Emily’s brother had such wonderful words to share about his sister.

The naked cake with florals was perfectly paired with the reception details. Following the dinner and cake cutting, everyone witnessed a very special dance between Robert and his mother, Emily and her father and Robert with his grandmother. It was another very precious moment in the day!

Emily and Robert skipped out for a bit for golden hour photos prior to golden hour because we really wanted them to be able to change into some lighter clothing for the rest of the ceremony. It was so very hot out! These romantic portraits are straight out of a fairy tale!

It was such a joy to take them to some of the sweetest spots at Rixey Manor. I have so enjoyed serving these two all along the way. How beautiful are these pre-golden hour photos? They are so happy and so in love!

Thank You!

Emily and Robert and their guests continued to dance the night away after we left. What a privilege it was to serve them. Congratulations Emily and Robert! Thank you so much for the joy of serving you and your families. And thank you to these wonderful folks who helped make the day possible.
